…when I sometimes tie a few flies to fend of the unending misery that is winter. Winter is coming. Valar Morghulis!
Anyway, I tied up some GRHEs and a couple of pink bead head flies. All have tungsten beads and are primarily aimed at catching grayling. I used size 16 Drennan Wet Fly Supreme for the GRHEs and size 16 Kamasan B400s for the pink bead heads. The latter are loose copies of some flies Steve Rhodes had that I liked the look of!
I do tie my GRHEs pretty scruffy, some may argue too scruffy but I just feel the tousled look makes them seem more ‘alive’. I bought the tungsten beads from this online store http://www.fordsflytying.com/shop/ and can recommend them, seem pretty good value.
